When you think of the films The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline there are probably two of quick thoughts that pop into your head: 1) the films’ iconic, stop-motion animation style and 2) the authors, Tim Burton and Neil Gaiman (respectively), that created those worlds and the characters within them. What may not be readily apparent is that that they are directed by the same visionary director, Henry Selick. Well, after a 13-year hiatus, that same director’s latest spooky stop-motion spectacle, Wendell & Wild, is now available to stream on Netflix. And this time, he collaborated with another transcendent creator, Oscar-Winner Jordan Peele. So, with all of that going for it, did Wendell & Wild live up to the sterling résumé of its creators? But, on top of that, the biggest DC movie news (possibly ever?) dropped just hours before our recording. Evil dies tonight! Or does it? This week, we are reviewing Halloween Ends, but perhaps the film should’ve been titled ‘Halloween Ends?’ and that’s not a spoiler. See, legendary horror director John Carpenter has been non-committal about this being the end of the series, citing money as the rationale to keep it going. And, while the ending of this movie seems to have an opinion on whether the franchise will continue, we all know anything can happen (or not happen) in Hollywood. In our Halloween Ends review, we’ll discuss all the performances and details, how this film compares to its predecessors, and whether or not this series should live on, or die off.

This movie broke the record for biggest premiere on Disney+ to-date, thanks to the many devoted members of the cult like following for the first Hocus Pocus film. Spoiler-Free The Woman King Review

When I heard they were making a movie called The Woman King starring Viola Davis, I figured it had to be a documentary. Viola Davis is undoubtedly the woman king of Hollywood thanks to her Academy Award Winning acting ability, but The Woman King is not a documentary. Instead, Viola Davis co-stars with Lashana Lynch, John Boyega, Thuso Mbedu, and more in the fierce and smashmouth true story of the Agojie warriors. “Based on a true story” movies are always a toss-up. So, I had to check it out to see if it fell into the same formulaic traps as other “based on a true story” films or if it used that powerful blade of Viola Davis’ to carve a new path altogether.
